Monterey Select Board
Minutes of the meeting of 6/11/07
Meeting Opened at: 8:30am
Select Board Members Present: Jonathan Sylbert, Chairperson, Wayne Burkhart and Scott Jenssen
Also in attendance: M. Storch
The board met with the Director of Highways, Maynard Forbes and reviewed the following items:
1. Borings
2. Shed: the cost to repair the old shed would be approximately 12-15k. To move the new shed with excavating costs would be approximately 30k.
3. Drainage on Sandisfield Rd is being completed.
4. Boiler bid specs for the town hall were provided to the board.
5. Placing a porta potty at the dump was discussed as well as placing one at the Lake Buel boat ramp.
The board met with Police Chief, Gareth Backhaus to review the following items:
1. Weekly report was reviewed.
Miscellaneous Select Board Items Reviewed:
1. A letter will be drafted next week when M. Noe returns to P. Mielke regarding the origination of the stone wall outside of her home on Main Rd.
2. Jon Sylbert will contact Wendy Swietzer of the Highlands Community Initiative to find out if the Community Preservation Act covers historic stone walls.
3. Town Counsel provided a draft copy of a letter to be sent to Richard Tryon requesting he sign a release to have the town come on his property to remove some trees.
4. D. Moriarity of the Finance Committee came in to see if there were currently any financial concerns that the Finance Committee should be involved in – there are not. He also provided the board with the Lake Buel Watershed Committee information.
5. The minutes from 5.14.07 & 5.21.07 were approved as amended.
6. Mail was reviewed.
